Supply Chain Security Program
Zoetis
Zoetis

The Problem
Zoetis is a multi-national animal health company with treatments for livestock and pets. Shortly after their spin-off from Pfizer it became evident the lack of a supply chain security program, which was in place at Pfizer, would be needed in Zoetis. The brand had been experiencing significant breeches of counterfeits in several developing markets. Overall the supply chain had not changed. However with leadership changes occurring with the spin off, securing the developing markets supply chains became higher priority.
MDB's Solution
Zoetis's Chief Security Officer retained MDB based on our experience in develpoing supply chain security programs. The project was initiated with a discovery activity that assessed existing supply chain practices upstream and downstream and existing anti-counterfeiting technologies and methods. The discovery activity also uncovered gaps in structural leadership and information sharing necessary for an effective supply chain security program.
The Results
With gaps identified we developed the future state governance structure and program management team requirements for Zoetis to stand up their first supply chain security leadership team. We also developed and implemented a governance process around the use of novel anti-counterfeiting technologies to secure products and strengthen veterinary trust in Zoetis products. This governance process enables Zoetis to make decisions on the most cost-effective use of technologies minimizing their overall spend on brand protection.
